Adebayor Signs New Contract withIstanbul Başakşehir

Former Tottenham and Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor has been able to agree a new contract with Turkish outfit IstanbulBaşakşehir.

The 33-year-old has now signed a new contract that will keep him at the club for three more years. The forward has been one of the enigmatic names in football, as he has been unable to transform his talent on the pitch due to a number of fields spells. After spending most of his time in the English football with the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham, and Manchester City, the Togolese forward has been something of a journeyman in recent years.

The 33-year-old started his career with Metz before coming on to Monaco in 2003. Here, he gained a lot of prominence and this led to the switch to Arsenal in 2006. However, he spent only three years at the gunners before making a move to Manchester City where he spent another three years. Continue reading “Adebayor Signs New Contract withIstanbul Başakşehir”

Emmanuel Adebayor extends contract with Istanbul Basaksehir

Togo international Emmanuel Adebayor has put pen to paper on a fresh three year deal with Turkish club Istanbul Basaksehir.

The former Arsenal and Manchester City striker joined the club during the second half of last season, where he contributed six goals in 12 league outings.

“I’m very excited to announce that we’ll be extending our journey together. Special thanks to everyone that is part of the Istanbul Basaksehir,” Adebayor wrote on his official Twitter account. The 33-year-old was without a club for over six months, but managed to secure a deal with Basaksehir following his impressive showing for Togo at the African Cup of Nations.

Adebayor had a bright career during his time at Arsenal where he notched 62 goals between 2005 and 2009. He has since struggled to reach those heights barring an impressive loan spell with Tottenham Hotspur in the 2011-12 season.Following his release from White Hart Lane in 2015, Adebayor tried to revive his Premier League career with Crystal Palace in the following year, but he could not make much of an impression with just a solitary goal in 15 appearances. ADEBAYOR REGRETS CRYSTAL PALACE MOVE

Former Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham Striker Emmanuel Adebayorsays he regrets ever moving to Crystal Palace in 2016.

The Togolese skipper says that it is the “worst decision” of his career. In the winter window of last term, the player moved to Palace for a six month loan deal. After 15 games, he scored just once and had to be released.

Till date that is the player’s last deal in the Premier League. He was released at the end of that season as Leicester City cruised to the league title. The player could not get another club to take him the next summer. He remained clubless despite being linked to numerous sides.

There was a time he was linked with a move to Lyon but the deal fell through last minute. It was after the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) this year that he was able to get a new employer. He seems to have found his rhythm playing for Turkish side Istanbul Basaksehir. Continue reading “ADEBAYOR REGRETS CRYSTAL PALACE MOVE”

EMMANUEL ADEBAYOR TO LEAD TOGO SQUAD

Former Arsenal, Man City, Spurs and Crystal Palace star Emmanuel Adebayor is set to lead his national team side Togo to the African Nations Cup qualifiers in June.

The veteran has found form in his Turkish side Basaksehir after moving there in January this year.

Togolese coach Clause Le Roy named squad regulars like Mathieu Dossevi, RazakBoukari, AlaixysRomao and Prince Segbefia for the fixture but he also added four uncapped players. Togo is set to face Nigeria in a friendly game on June 1 before playing Comoros Island on June 4. The qualifier is against Algeria in Blida on June 11, a game they must win.

Following a recent youth tournament in the nation’s capital, Le Roy named ElomNya-Vedji. Goalkeepers AlhassaniDidaFatao and SabirouBassaDjeriDjeri were also invited aside Serge Seko who plays in Angola.

YorganAgblemagnon who plays for French side Le Havre is expected to stand in goal. In defence, three foreign players were invited: Joseph Douhadji who plies his trade with Rivers United in Nigeria; DjeneDakonam who plays for Belgian side St Truiden and Simeon Gbegnon who plays for French side Epinal. The other defenders play in the local league; Hakim Ouro-Sama, KossiAdegnon, MaklibeKouloun, and Franck Mawuena.

In midfield LalaweleAtakora, KokouGazozo, KodjoSewonou and Guillaume Yenoussi are the local invitees. Serge AtsouSeko who plays in Angola, Franco Atchou who plays for Enyimba in Nigeria, Floyd Ayite who is with Fulham, England and IhasBebou who plays in Germany are the foreign stars.

Aside Adebayor, KomlanAgbeniadan, Fo Dou Laba and PenielMlapa are invited and they are all foreign players. Agbeniadan plays in Ghana for Wafa, Laba for Berkane, Morocco while Mlapa lines up for VFL Bochum, Germany.

POCHETTINO WANTS TO REMAIN WITH SPURS

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has pledged to remain with the club amid interest in him from a number of top European sides. The Argentine has been linked with a move to Inter Milan but the coach asks fans not to worry as he remains fully committed to the club.

“There are many, many rumours, but I am committed with the club. There is no reason to leave,” the 45-year old said reassuringly.

Inter sacked manager Stefano Pioli as they plan a bid to return to the elites in football. They want a new top coach at San Siro next season to manage their huge spending budget.

After finishing third last year, and getting his side playing the kind of attractive football that have made them one of the most searched for teams on www.livefootballtickets.com, Pochettino helped Spurs to the second spot this year. Inter have identified him as the man to help them to greater heights as they seek.

There was strong speculation that Inter would match Pochettino’s buy-out clause as it would be difficult to lure Chelsea Coach Antonio Conte who is another person courted for the role.

“There is no buy-out clause in my contract and I will stay here next season. You will see on July 3 at the start of pre-season, I will stay here. Don’t worry,” the manager added.

Since taking over, Pochettino has built an enviable young squad that boasts of the finest players in the Premier League. He weeded out players like Paulinho, Nacer Chadli and Emmanuel Adebayor amongst others as they all had run-ins with him during the grooming stage.

Pochettino now has a committed and intelligent team that love him in and out. The fans adore him as well and the management respects his decisions. He has promised to fight harder next season. Sooner or later, the titles should come in to establish his legacy at the London club.

EMMANUEL ADEBAYOR HITS HAT TRICK IN TURKEY

Former Arsenal man Emmanuel Adebayor scores a hat trick against Turkish against Galatasaray.

As the Gunners were being humbled at Selhurst Park, the Istanbul Basaksehir striker hit three to hand them a 4-0 victory over their local rivals. The result keeps the hopes of winning the Turkish league alive though they remain five points away after 27 games.

Adebayor grabbed the opener after just 11 minutes. The opposition gifted him with the goal as he had an open net to slot the ball in. The 33-year old ex-Man City and Spurs player added another goal through his trademark header by lifting the highest. He completed his hat trick in the second half.

Adebayor is fast becoming a fan favourite in Turkey. With this kind of display he might still have a few years left in him before he hangs his boot. This is the fourth time he would start a Turkish Super Lig game since his move in January but he has already scored five goals.

He could not get an offer in the Premier League where he wanted to remain. Proposed deals to Lyon and a few other interested fell through. It was after his display at the African Nations Cup that the Turkey deal happened and he seems to be focused on repaying the faith.

Besiktas still sit atop the league’s standings with 61 points and a goal difference of 31. Basaksehir still have the chance to topple them with seven games left to play. Fenerbahce, Galatasaray and Trabzonspor complete the top five respectively. Basaksehir are six points adrift their closest opponent and they hope the continental distractions would force Besiktas shed some points.

ADEBAYOR PLANS RETURN TO PREMIER LEAGUE TO REACH MILESTONE

Togolese striker Emanuel Adebayor has said that he is planning a return to the Premier League after his release by Crystal Palace.

The player said that he does not know when he has a ‘bad reputation’ in the football league but insists on returning to England to play football.

The player is leading his country to the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Gabon but he insists that despite the controversies in English clubs he has been with, he would return to play. He believes that his former teammates and most club staff have nothing but praise for his display whilst with them.

Adebayor played in Arsenal from 2006 to 2009. He featured for the Sky Blues at Etihad from 2009 to 2012, going to Tottenham Hotspur on loan in 2011/12. He eventually joined Spurs on a permanent deal, playing from 2012 to 2015 before he moved to Palace.

The forward is three goals shy of the 100 milestone in the Premier League after 242 games. This could be a motivating factor to return to English football. However, he is concerned about getting a club that would accept him as he feels he has a bad reputation.

“I have a bad reputation in England and I don’t know why. Maybe it’s something that has just followed me. But one thing I always say is that 90 percent of the people I’ve played with would say I’m an amazing guy, a great teammate.

“Other people, those who work on the gate at every stadium I’ve played at, will tell you I am a humble guy and a nice person. But the press will say what they want, and in my career I’ve been unfortunate enough to have a lot of negativity,” the player said.

The player seems confident of getting an offer as he says he wants to “hit the top level again.”

Adebayor Hints at Premier League Return after Contact from England

Former Arsenal, Tottenham, and Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor has claimed that he may be on the verge of a return to the Premier league sooner rather than later, as there has been interest from the top division of English football.

Adebayor has been one of the biggest disappointments from African football, despite his immense talent. The 32-year-old striker was brought to Arsenal by Arsene Wenger, who had high hopes for the striker. He did score a lot of goals towards the end of his Arsenal career, but a fallout with the club led to the move to Manchester City.

Since then, he has never hit top form consistently. If that was one thing consistent about Adebayor, it was his constant falling out with clubs, fans, and even managers. In the last five years, the striker has represented Manchester City, Real Madrid, Tottenham, and Crystal Palace with varying degrees of success. He is now a free agent after being released from his contract at Crystal Palace.

The Togo striker has also had a similar history with the Togo national team, but he just represented them in the 2017 African Cup of Nations. Togo were recently eliminated from the competition in the group stages.

Adebayor claims that he is still passionate about football, but it remains to be seen if he finds a team to play before the end of this January window.“I’ve had a few contacts (from English clubs). I love the Premier League. You guys know how much I love the Premier League, even though I’m not the most loved player in England. I have done it for the last 10 years in the Premier league.I cannot say it’s easy but I have done a lot of work in the shadows to be (at the Nations Cup) and prove to everyone that I can still play football, that I still have football in me,” said the striker.

Emmanuel Adebayor Highly Unlikely for African Cup of Nations 2017

Former Tottenham and Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor is looking like a major doubt for the African Cup of Nations 2017.

He was expected to be part of the Togo national team at this major tournament. However, his failure to find a club since leaving Crystal Palace is threatening to disrupt the plans of the Togo national team. Even though he is one of the top players available at the disposal of the national team, it is understood that the manager was extremely unhappy with the physical status of the player when he turned up for a decent practice session.

Adebayor has been without a club since leaving Crystal Palace back in June. Even though he is available on a free transfer, clubs have simply not been looking to take a punt on the player who has been at various clubs since 2012. He has played for the likes of Manchester city, Real Madrid, and Crystal Palace since leaving Arsenal in 2009. Not too long ago, he was one of the promising centre forwards in the Arsenal team and he was even ahead of Robin Van Persie in the pecking order once.

Several bad movesappears to have halted the career of a player who is still only 32. Adebayor has had a chequered history with the national team. He has featured in 66 games and scored 31 goals, but he has infuriated the Togo FA with his antics in the past.

“If I feel that I am not ready to go to the next African Cup of Nations, I will not … This is a national team and it must go to the African Cup of Nations with players who are fit and ready,” said the striker, who has claimed that he will be in attendance for the tournament in January just to provide support to his teammates.

Emmanuel Adebayor heads to Dubai

Former Arsenal and Manchester City striker, Emmanuel Adebayo, is reportedly set to move to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to continue his football career as his wish to remain in England has continually failed.

Since his sack from Crystal Palace in June, the player has not been able to get a new contract, as that is allegedly his heart desire. Even when a possible deal to French giant Olympique Lyonnais was set to happen, it fell through, leaving the Togolese star clubless.

This is not the first time he has been clubless for a while. After exiting Tottenham Hotspur in 2015, he remained unattached from the start of the 2015/16 season until Crystal Palace decided to hand him a deal during the January transfer window.

He failed to make as much impact as expected so his deal wasn’t renewed. He has since being clubless, hence the move to Dubai.

The transfer window in the UAE is set to close at midnight on Thursday. The free agent has decided to possibly end his career there than remain unattached until January again where a club might not show interest, according to reports. The 32-year old is said to be keeping regular appointments with a personal trainer, and seems to have passed fitness requirements ahead of a move to Al-Wasl in Dubai. The club sits in fifth position in the Arabian Gulf League after three games in the new campaign. They are ambitious this term, hence the want for a top striker to deliver an impressive show.

Adebayor remains the captain of his country and is set to lead the team at the African Cup of Nations tournament billed for January. Togo has been drawn in a ‘tough’ group along with DR Congo, Morocco and defending champions Ivory Coast.
