Arsenal legend-turned-pundit Ian Wright believes Christian Benteke could be influential towards turning the club’s form in the Premier League in the forthcoming months. The south London outfit have made a slow start to the current campaign and they are currently just one point above the drop after the opening 13 matches.

Moreover, they have also struggled upfront with the joint-lowest goal tally of just eight alongside Huddersfield Town and this has come about from the ineffectiveness of Alexander Sorloth and Jordan Ayew upfront in the absence of Benteke through a knee injury. City favorite to win the title

Former Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor believes that the club is favorite to win the title. He said that they have the better squad as well as a good manager and he is sure that they will be holding the Premier League title in May.

He said that Liverpool is also a good team but at the moment they lack the strength in depth that Manchester City has. He believes that this will be a very close Premier League campaign and whoever wins the title will have to be really consistent.

Crystal Palace boss confirms Wilfried Zaha was hampered by a back injury

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has confirmed that Wilfried Zaha was struggling with a minor back problem before the Newcastle United game which may have slowed him up. The Ivory Coast international sustained aniggle during the warm-up ahead of the fixture but he was given the go-ahead to feature after a late fitness test.

Speaking after the Magpies game, Hodgson said: “I think he is feeling something at the top of his back. He was passed fit by the doctor and physio and had no desire not to play the game. I am hoping it won’t cause him problems in the week. Nothing really to report. He was quieter. I don’t know if his comments affected him. He isn’t in front of the mass media, but I don’t think he expected his comments to be treated the way they were. It was his lament. I don’t think he expected the world and its sister to have a view.”

Besiktas in advanced talks for David Ospina

Turkish heavyweights Besiktas are reportedly in advanced discussions with Arsenal to pursue the signature of David Ospina. The Colombian goalkeeper has been the back-up goalkeeper for the Gunners over the past three seasons but the arrival of Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen has meant that he has now become the third-choice shot-stopper.

As a result, Ospina is desperate to leave the Emirates Stadium before the transfer deadline across Europe and Besiktas are reported to be leading the race. According to The Sun, the former Turkish champions have identified Ospina as their prime target for the number one role, which remains up for grabs following the departure of Fabri to Fulham.

Emmanuel Adebayor Pleased With AFCON Qualification Preparations

Togo international Emmanuel Adebayor believes his country are back on track ahead of their 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifiers. Adebayor, who is currently with Turkish outfit Istanbul Basaksehir, has said that it was an honour to lead the West African country during the recent set of international friendlies.

 

The Sparrow Hawks settled for a 2-2 draw against the Ivory Coast in their first friendly before playing out a 0-0 stalemate against Madagascar at the Stade Municipal in France. Despite not winning either of those games, Adebayor has expressed his satisfaction over the results ahead of Togo’s AFCON qualifiers later in the year. Emmanuel Adebayor Blames Arsene Wenger For His Arsenal Exit

Togo international Emmanuel Adebayor has suggested that he was pushed through the exit door at the Emirates Stadium during the summer of 2009. The striker had been of interest to Manchester City during the transfer window, and the 34-year-old insists that Wenger forced him to pursue a move or end up plying his trade for the reserves.

He said: “I had a meeting with Arsene Wenger in his office when he told me I had to leave because he doesn’t see my future anymore in Arsenal. I have to move on in my life.I was like ‘I’m going to stay.’ He was like ‘no there is not even a fight organised. We are not going to organise any fight for you. You move out or you stay here and don’t play any games.”

Emmanuel Adebayor Still Wants to Win Ballon D’Or Award

Former Manchester City and Arsenal forward Emmanuel Adebayor has outrageously claimed that he is still thinking about winning the Ballon d’Or award. The Togolese striker has hit great heights during the early days of his career when he was at Arsenal, but he constantly fell out with every club and fans during his decade long career. He has also been in and out of the national team. Yet, Adebayor has always been regarded as a player with incredible confidence in his own abilities. It is not a surprise that he has claimed about winning the Ballon d’Or award, after having just found a club.

Adebayor has been without a club since leaving Crystal Palace at the end of the 2016 season. He spent only a few months at Selhurst Park. However, the striker was unable to find a place where he could play on a regular basis. He has represented the likes of Manchester City, Real Madrid, Arsenal, and Tottenham in the past. The Togo striker, however, could be looking at a league victory for the 2017-18 campaign after having scored four Istanbul Basaksehir, who are his new club. The striker has signed for the Turkish club on a short-term contract until June. He came up with a hat-trick for Istanbul Basaksehir in the game against Galatasaray in November.

ADEBAYOR: WENGER MADE THE FANS HATE ME

Former Arsenal and Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor has revealed the role Arsene Wenger played in making the fans hate him. The Togolese forward moved from the Emirates to Etihad in 2009 as the big spenders lured top players from around Europe.

Adebayor moved to Manchester from north London for £25 million as City spent money to lure other EPL stars like Arsenal defender Kolo Toure and Manchester United striker Carlos Tevez. Adebayor said when the offer came in he was not keen on leaving Arsenal. He accused the longtime French manager of forcing him to take up the offer to move to Etihad.
