ADEBAYOR IN WEST BROM LINKS

Free agent Emmanuel Adebayor could have been playing for Premier League newcomers West Brom if the Baggies had firmed up their interest in him. Emmanuel Adebayor has notbeen without a club since the Togolese football legend left Paraguayan first division outfit Olimpialast summer.

Emmanuel Adebayor left Olimpia in July because of complications from the dreaded Coronavirus and after playing a handful of games for the club. The ex-Arsenal, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace striker was linked with a transfer to West Brom towards the end of last year and while SlavenBilic was still the manager.

West Brom sacked Croatian legend SlavenBilic and was replaced by relegation specialist Sam Allardyce. West Brom went for Sam Allardyce in their quest to avoid relegation from the Premier League at the end of this season. The West Brom transfer links involving Emmanuel Adebayor ended with the appointment of Sam Allardyce.

Sam Allardyce has not been able to take West Brom away from the relegation zone since he became their manager as they have struggled for goals, while also conceding a lot of them in defence. Without the goals of an experienced campaigner like Emmanuel Adebayor, West Brom have struggled for points during his short time at the Hawthorns. Emmanuel Adebayor has 97 goals in the Premier League and a move to West Brom as a free agent last year would have given him the opportunity to score the three goals needed for him to become a centurion as far as Premier League football is concerned.

West Brom and Sam Allardyce were sucked into the relegation battle further on Tuesday night when they lost 2-1 at bottom team Sheffield United after taking the lead through Matt Philips. Jayden Bogle and club skipper Billy Sharp scored for the hosts in the second half to overturn the game and move within one point of their opponents.
