ADEBAYOR FRUSTRATED AT SPURS

The Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor has said that Tottenham should improve a lot if there are to achieve the ambitions for the season. His comments come ahead of the match with West Ham. Tottenham come into the match having had just two victories in the last eight matches of all competitions.

This poor form has not only seen them slip closer to the 10th position in the Premier league table, but also be on the verge of exit from the Europa league. Adebayor, who has been starting a few matches of late, has said that the club should improve as soon as possible.

Adebayor will not be involved in the upcoming three matches for Tottenham after his straight red card in the match against Arsenal last weekend. Tottenham lost the match 5-2 after they had managed to take the lead in the first half through Adebayor. However, the Togo striker was dismissed the after just a few minutes after scoring. He has said that he wants to remain positive about the situation, but if it continues, then he can see how bad it can get. Meanwhile, Gareth Bale has said that he is very much interested in experiencing new leagues and cultures, thus opening the door for a possible move in the future to either Real Madrid or Barcelona.

“I don’t know why we aren’t playing well. We’re frustrated about the way things are going but what isn’t clicking I don’t know. Badder than this, I think we’d be dead. At the moment things are looking bad but we must find a way to get through this,” said Emmanuel Adebayor ahead of the West Ham United match. The striker joined the club on a permanent basis from Manchester City for £ 5 million, and he recently expressed the dissatisfaction about the playing time he has been getting.

NO GAME AGAINST LAZIO

Emmanuel Adebayor would not be able to feature for the Spurs in the Europa League encounter against Lazio due to hamstring injury. That match is going to be played on 20th of September at White Hart Lane.

Adebayor hasn’t started any match for the Spurs in the ongoing season. He came to play as substitute against Norwich City and West Bromwich Albion, but, in the last match against Reading, he was not sent onto the field by Andre Villas Boas. However, Adebayor was expected to be included in the starting XI for the match against Lazio, but, unfortunately, according to Man City news he pulled his hamstring and got unfit.

Adebayor was placed on loan to Tottenham in the last season and he had performed sensationally for the Spurs. He was the top goal scorer for the club with a total of 18 goals out of which 17 were scored in the Premier League. At the start of the current season, Adebayor was offered a permanent contract by the Tottenham management and the Togolese striker wasted no time in accepting the offer. But, the current season hasn’t gone that well for Adebayor so far.

Andre Villas Boas looked disappointed with the injury of Adebayor. As per Boas, had Adebayor not got injured, he could have found a place in the first XI against Lazio. The team needed his experience in that all important match. It’s quite frustrating that he is another Tottenham player to get injured.
Apart from Adebayor, some other Tottenham players are also injured including Younes Kaboul, Scott Parker and Benoit Essou-Ekotto.

Andre Villas Boas hinted that the club’s new signing, Clint Dempsey, could be included in the first XI in Thursday’s match. The Tottenham manager said that Dempsey looked in good touch in the match against Reading and he might get the opportunity to spend some more time in the middle in the further matches.

ADE SIGNS FOR SPURS

Former Manchester City striker, Emmanuel Adebayor, has signed for Tottenham Hotspur. The manager of Tottenham, Andre Villas Boas, has confirmed the signing of Adebayor. The Tobolese striker has joined Tottenham on a contract of 3 years.

In the last few days, there have been speculations about Adebayor’s transfer to Tottenham and the speculations turned out to be true eventually. The transfer fee hasn’t yet been disclosed by the Tottenham management, but, it is rumoured to be somewhere around 5 million pounds. Adebayor will get a lesser weekly salary at Tottenham. The weekly salary of Adebayor at Manchester City was 170,000 pounds, while, he will get only 100,000 pounds per week at Tottenham.

Adebayor had been playing for Manchester City since the last 3 years. He had joined the club in July 2009. City had bought him from Arsenal after paying a huge transfer fee of 25 million pounds. He played his first match for City against Blackburn Rovers and he scored a fantastic goal in his very first match.

His performance was quite brilliant in the 2009-10 season, but, in the next season, City bought Carlos Tevez and Mario Balotelli and as a result, Adebayor didn’t manage to find a place in the first XI regularly. In the last season, Adebayor had played for Tottenham Hotspur on loan. The Tobolese striker had put up a number of impressive performances for Tottenham in the last season. He had scored 18 goals and had helped Tottenham to finish at no. 4 in the Premier League.

After signing for Tottenham, Adebayor told the reporters that he had enjoyed his time at Tottenham in the last season and he is very happy to sign for the club on a permanent basis. As per Adebayor, he is quite excited to work under the guidance of the new Tottenham manager Andre Villas Boas.

TOGO MUST COPE WITHOUT ADE

Manchester city striker Emmanuel Adebayor is an integral part of the national team, but he is a player that the team should learn to be without in the future according to the national team manager Didier Six.

The Togo national team manager Didier Six has said that even though he has once claimed that Emmanuel Adebayor is extremely integral for the team and its progress forward, he has said that his prolonged absence for the national team has made him adjust to the life without the centre forward, who is currently the record goal scorer for the national team with 23 goals.

However, his international career has been chequered a lot by the clashes with the football Association of Togo. He officially announced his retirement from the international level in 2010 following the gun attacks on the team bus. He was, however, made it to come back from retirement after promises were made by the Football Association over the security of the team in the future. After saying that the Football Association has went back on its promise of offering high levels of security, Emmanuel Adebayor once again announced his retirement only a few months ago.

“Nobody can deny the talent and importance of Emmanuel Adebayor in the Togo national team, and the great things he has done for the nation. But we can’t keep waiting and hanging our hopes on one player, who has turned his back on us. We need to accept the situation, work with those available and move forward. And that is what I feel the players are beginning to do. We must learn not to depend on one player but depend on the team as a whole,” Six said recently. Emmanuel Adebayor is set to leave his club Manchester City before the start of the new season.

DECISIONS, DECISIONS

Since arriving at Arsenal in January 2006, Adebayor has made a significant impact on English football.

Having a love-hate relationship with many English football fans the retired Togolese international is likely to have a difficult decision this summer as it become ever clearer that Manchester city are looking to relinquish his services.

It is understood that City manager Roberto Mancini has already begun negotiations with Italian club Napoli for their goalscorer Edinson Cavani.

Reports suggest a deal worth $40million which include a part-exchange which will see Adebayor join the Serie A club.
However, following the 28 year olds season long loan at Tottenham Hotspurs, manager Harry Redknapp has expressed his intent on signing the striker on a permanent deal.

However Adebayor’s £110,000 pound a week contract may prove a significant stumbling block for the north London side that would have to break their current wage structure to secure the signing. Equally if Tottenham fail to qualify for the champion’s league, the striker may look elsewhere, with interest from Germany and Spain for his services.

Although Spurs would appear as the front runners for his signature, there has been a suggestion that American outfit New York Red Bulls are interested in reuniting Adebayor with ex-arsenal team mate Thierry Henry. Reports suggest that the front man would receive an £170,000 a week wage, over £100,000 more than the spurs budget currently allows. It would appear this move has been put in motion with Adebayor’s advisors already discussing the possibility with the MLS side.

This transfer story may wage on well into the summer transfer window with Adebayor having to pick money over higher quality football. Either way it is hard to say which club he will pick or if the decision is taken out of his hands should Napoli agree to the part exchange agreement over their favoured straight money deal.

STRONG FINISH

Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor is of the opinion that the club are going to have a strong finish in the current campaign.

Tottenham had a strong wobble in the last few weeks, which threatened to derail their season as a whole. However, they have managed to come out of the wobble to go level on points with Arsenal in the table, while they have also entered into the semifinals of the FA Cup match against Chelsea on April 15.

Due to the fact that Tottenham are in a great position to win a trophy and finish in the Champions League position, Adebayor believes that there will be a strong end to the season for Tottenham.

Adebayor joined Tottenham in the summer on a loan deal from Manchester City, and is looking forward to win the first silverware of the season with Tottenham. It was only a few weeks ago that Tottenham had a 12 point advantage over fourth placed Arsenal, but that has been reduced after some poor form on their part. However, following the 3-1 win over Swansea during the weekend coupled with the 2-1 defeat for Arsenal, Tottenham have narrowed the advantage Arsenal had in the league over them to just the goal difference.

“For me, my target before coming to join Tottenham was to get into the top four and we are in a good position to do that now. We are in the FA Cup semi-final as well. We just have to give it a go, try to give everything and finish in the top four – and why not win the FA Cup as well? “When Swansea pulled it back to 1-1, it was quite difficult, but in the head we have have a good squad, we have belief,” Adebayor said to the official site of Tottenham.

ADEBAYOR HAPPY UNDER REDKNAPP

Tottenham’s on loan striker Emmanuel Adebayor has said that the key reason for him to be performing so well under Harry Redknapp and at Tottenham is confidence.

Emmanuel Adebayor was very keen on moving away from Manchester City after falling out with the manager Roberto Mancini and the board. There was a clear lack of clubs willing to sign the Togo striker mainly because of his enormous wages, but Tottenham stepped in at the last moment to take the striker on loan. It has proved to be one of the bargains of the summer transfer window, as Emmanuel Adebayor has excelled at Tottenham this season.

So far, he has scored eight goals and has been instrumental in the club making a challenge for the Champions League positions. Emmanuel Adebayor spent six months on loan at Real Madrid, but failed to convert it into a permanent move. It led to a lot of misunderstanding between him and the club, which eventually forced him to a loan deal at Tottenham. Initially, many were sceptical about the chances of Emmanuel Adebayor succeeding at Tottenham mainly because of his Arsenal connections. However, the fans have taken him to their heart, as he has been responding with the same love in every match.

“When you have the feeling that the team wants you out or the manager wants you out, things feel different. Where you’re supposed to run, you don’t run any more. Where you’re supposed to chase back, you don’t chase back anymore. Everything that you’re doing is the opposite to what people like,” Emmanuel Adebayor said when asked about the secret of his success at White Hart Lane. He also said that he does not know whether his move to Tottenham will become permanent or not, but he will try to make it permanent.
